Environmental Law and Natural Resources
The Santa Fe, New Mexico law firm of Comeau, Maldegen, Templeman & Indall, L.L.P. has attorneys with over thirty years of experience in the areas of environmental law, natural resources, and administrative law.
Environmental laws and regulations are enacted at the state and federal levels, creating a complicated web of rules that can result in costly procedures and time-consuming bureaucratic red tape in order to move forward with land use projects. Our attorneys have experience in state and federal courts, including the United States Claims Courts, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. In addition, we regularly appear before state legislative committees as well as state and federal administrative agencies, including the New Mexico Environment Department and the Water Quality Control Commission.
Our environmental and natural resources practice covers the field of land and water issues, including:
- Environmental Law
- Mining and Mineral Rights
- Natural Resources
- Public Lands
- Indian Law
- Water and Water Rights
Our environmental work has included representing clients in site remediation activities, including Superfund sites. Our work in the area of mining and mineral rights includes transactions, title work permitting, and acquisitions of mining property. We have represented mining companies before regulatory agencies, including the New Mexico Mining Department. The firm has also represented the New Mexico Mining Association in administrative rulemaking proceedings and appellate proceedings affecting the mining industry.
One of our partners, Jon Indall, spoke on Uranium Supply and Demand to the American Legislative Exchange Council Task Force on Energy, Environment and Agriculture at the Council's August 7, 2010 conference in San Diego. ALEC's 37th annual meeting hosted nearly 1,500 state legislators, policy experts and private-sector leaders from across the United States for three days of intensive discussions on the critical issues facing the states and our nation. ALEC is the nation's largest non-partisan individual membership organization of state legislators.
